Find
out about Calvary:
Here are some frequently asked questions, we'll do
our best to answer them...
Where do
you meet?:
We currently meet at Valley Christian Academy on Sunday
Mornings and Thursday nights. Service times are Sunday

What
kind of church is it?:
Calvary Chapel Flint is a non-denominational Christ
centered Bible church. Broken down that means, we are not
a part of any denomination (methodist, baptist, Lutheran
ect...), but we are a part of a group of like-minded
churches called Calvary Chapel (
www.calvarychapel.com) because we
like what they stand for.
We are Christ centered, meaning He is the focus... not
the building, not the stuff... Jesus. He changes lives
and sets burdened down people free from their sin. We
worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in spirit and in
truth. This means that we teach salvation through faith
in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross. We love
Him with everything we have.
We are a Bible teaching church. This means that we have
not (as is the current trend in "the church") abandoned
the Bible in our services and daily lives. We know it's
not "cool" today to think that the Bible is the only
authority, or that it is the only alive and living Word
of God, or that it reveals perfectly the Lord, or that it
is the means by which we do all we do in this life. It is
error free, it was written by God through men, it changes
peoples lives, it softens hard hearts and make the simple
wise. It is for the soul what water or food is for the
body...
And as such, we teach it... book by book (in order),
chapter by chapter, verse by verse. And when we finish
it, we'll start again and do this until we hit 3 times...
just kidding... we'll do it until He returns. This is the
best way to learn the entire Bible, and that is our goal!
Do we
have to wear dresses and suits?:
If you have ever been to a Calvary Chapel before you know
that it's very casual here (we don't look down on suits,
we just don't think you have to wear them to get God's
attention). Just please do us the favor of not coming in
your birthday suit or your bathing suit. Thanks.
What is
a normal service like?:
We start with prayer and announcements of upcoming events
(about 5 minutes). Then we worship the Lord together in
song (15 minutes). We then teach a verse by verse,
chapter by chapter Bible study on whatever passage we
have come to next in our attempt to teach through the
entire Bible. We then close in prayer and dismiss.
Fellowship (the Christian way of saying talking and
coffee) lasts as long as you stay. Pretty simple eh?
Reminds us of the Book of Acts and the simplicity of
ministry with the early church... ok, we admit that might
be intentional.
Do you
have kids classes, what are the age groups?:
Yes we do! Our children’s classes take place during the
time of the regular adult services. They are “tailored”
to the age of the group. We teach the kids the Bible and
engage them in activity that supports what they are
learning. We currently have 4 age groups/classes Nursery
(infant to 2 yrs), Toddlers (3-5 yrs), Primary (6-8) and
Juniors (9-11) Kids 12 and older are in with the adults
in the main service.
Do you
beg people for money?:
Nope, don't need to. The Lord is not hurting for money.
He provides for whatever He wants to "stay alive". So
we're really not concerned about that. We have a box in
the back if people want to give... I think that says it
all. We don't do fundraisers, building drives ect... for
the reason's mentioned before. Your giving is between you
and God, it will stay that way here.
Do you
do anything weird?:
Again the answer is no. We don't believe the Lord is
weird. We stick to whatever is IN the Bible. So if it's
not there, it's not here. Like for instance... "laughing
in the spirit" is not something we see in the Bible... so
it's out. Infant baptism, purgatory, praying to saints
ect... not one of them found in the Bible.... so they are
not here either. You get the point.
What are
your core beliefs?:
Glad you asked, the answer is found here...
